6. What if I do not make enough income to file an Affidavit of Support on behalf of my foreign relative?

A sponsor must file form I-864 at the appropriate time to prove that he/she can financially support a foreign relative once they come to reside in the United States. If the petitioner does not make enough money, a co-sponsor can aid in order to meet the financial requirements of an Affidavit of Support. A co-sponsor must be at least 18 years old and be able to fulfill certain financial qualifications.
